An AI travel planner for the whole trip

Coming soon to iPhone and Android. FlyBees is an AI travel concierge for people who plan their own trips. It plans the trip with you in a chat, then keeps it together, from the first idea to the last expense.

Planning a trip is a lot of reading

Expedia Group’s research across seven countries found that people “view 141 pages of travel content in the 45 days prior to booking a trip”, on average.

Then the plan has to live somewhere. Accenture’s 2024 travel research puts it this way: “Multi-tabbed browsing, bookmarking websites, offline spreadsheets and detailed notetaking can become complex”.

Describe the trip you want, in your own words

Say whatever shapes the trip for you: the pace, what you eat, who is coming, the places you must see and the ones you’d rather skip.

For example

“Five days in Rome with our two children, aged 7 and 10, at a relaxed pace.”

It asks before it plans

If something is missing, FlyBees asks, one or two questions at a time, then gets to work. It needs three things: where you’re going, your dates or the number of days, and where you’re starting from, which it asks rather than guesses. It may also ask about your budget and what you’d like to see.

A travel profile, set once

Tell it once how you like to travel. Plans start from there.

  • Travel style: relaxed, adventure, cultural, luxury, budget, family, solo or workcation
  • Your typical trip budget
  • Dietary notes, such as vegetarian, vegan, halal or alcohol-free
  • Your home city

A day-by-day itinerary with real places and times

Each stop has a start time, a length of stay and a short description. Day one opens with the journey from where you’re starting, and the last day ends with the journey back. Days are paced around opening hours and the time it takes to get between stops.

Also in the plan

  • Hotel check-in when you arrive in a city, or a bag drop if you arrive early, and checkout on the day you move on
  • Meals at mealtimes, and full days that carry on into the evening

Multi-city trips

For a multi-city trip, FlyBees suggests how to get from one city to the next, by public transport, by air or by road. It suggests where to stay in each city, close to what you’ll be doing. These are suggestions.

Each day on a map

See each day’s stops on a map. Tap the walk or drive between two stops to see the route, with its time and distance.

Change any part of the plan

Ask for changes in plain words, like “slow the pace down” or “make it seven days instead”, and FlyBees rebuilds the plan with your change in it.

To change a single stop, open the menu on its card. Refresh suggests a different place of the same kind in the same city. Modify lets you say what you’d rather have, such as “somewhere quieter for lunch, near the river”. The travel either side of the new stop is worked out again.

Checklist, budget and documents, inside each trip

Each sits one tab away from the itinerary.

A packing list and checklist made for this trip

Generate a checklist from the trip itself: its destination, dates, length, budget level and the activities in the plan. It comes in six parts: documents, pre-trip tasks, on-trip tasks, clothing, toiletries and electronics. Tasks can carry a date to do them by. Ask for more suggestions, add your own items, tick off what’s done and remove what you don’t need.

A trip budget, tracked as you spend

Set a budget for the trip, then log each expense as food, transport, stay, shopping, activities or other. You see what you’ve spent and what is left, or how far over you are, and your spending by category. Edit or remove any entry later. An expense summary sets each trip’s spending beside its budget.

Your travel papers

Keep tickets, bookings and IDs with the trip they belong to. Photograph a document or upload a PDF or image, then file it under travel documents, booking confirmations, or insurance and medical. Papers you take on every trip, like a copy of your passport, are kept once in My Documents and added to any trip. Search by name to find one again.

All your trips, and where you left each one

Trips sort themselves by date into ongoing, upcoming and completed. Archive the ones you no longer need to see.

Each trip keeps its own conversations, so you can pick up any of them where you left off.

What we’re building

Everything above is built. What follows is not, yet.

  • Coming: book the plan you’ve agreed on.
  • Coming: bring in the bookings you’ve already made.
  • We’re building help for when plans change.
  • We’re building FlyBees for the messaging apps you already use.

Questions

What is an AI travel concierge?

The idea comes from hotels, where the concierge is the person you ask how best to spend your time in a city. An AI travel concierge gives that kind of answer for a whole trip, as a plan you can follow.

How exact are the times in a plan?

They are planned estimates, not guarantees. Plans don’t account for the weather or one-off closures, and flight times between cities are estimates. Check anything time-critical, like a last train, before you rely on it.

Do I have to fill in a travel profile?

No. Every field is optional, and you can skip the step entirely. Change any of it later in the app.

Can I use FlyBees for work trips?

Yes, the same way as a holiday. Plans don’t set time aside for meetings or conference sessions.

When does FlyBees launch?

There is no launch date yet.
